Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

ATEH LAW (“we”, “us”) is a law firm based in Edmonton, Alberta, providing legal services across Alberta. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how we handle it. It applies to this website only — information you provide once you become a client is governed by our retainer agreement and by our professional obligations as lawyers.

2. Information we collect

We collect personal information that you choose to submit through the forms on this website. Specifically:

• Confidential message form (Contact page) — your name, phone number, email address, selected practice area, urgency level, and any details you enter in the message field.
• Book a Legal Consultation form — your selected practice area, preferred contact method, preferred date, name, phone number, email address, and any background you provide in the legal context field.

Our website also records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, which is used to keep the site secure and working correctly.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you submit to respond to your enquiry, assess whether we are able to assist you, check for conflicts of interest, and arrange a consultation. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have asked us to contact you for that purpose.

4. Confidentiality before a solicitor-client relationship exists

Submitting a form on this website does not create a solicitor-client relationship, and information sent through this website is not protected by solicitor-client privilege until we have formally agreed to act for you. Please do not send detailed or sensitive information about your legal matter through this website. Keep initial enquiries brief, and we will tell you when it is appropriate to share more.

5. Who has access

Form submissions are delivered by email to our office and stored within this website’s administration area. Access is limited to Peter Ateh and authorised staff. We use third-party service providers to host this website and deliver email; those providers may process data on our behalf but are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

6. Retention

We retain website enquiries only as long as necessary for the purpose described above, and to meet our record-keeping obligations as a law firm. Where an enquiry does not become a matter, we delete it once it is no longer needed.

7. Your rights

Under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent to its use. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

8. Cookies

This website uses cookies that are necessary for it to function. We do not use advertising cookies.
